My floor’s not wet, but my walls are seeping water.

For those clients that have an existing home with a leaky basement, Eco-Seal can help!  There are several factors that can contribute to moisture or water penetrating your foundation walls.  Our trained staff can identify the root cause and design a solution that best fits your needs.

What’s the chalky substance on my basement wall?

The white, chalky, powdery stuff on your basement walls is efflorescence. It isn’t toxic, but it could be a sign of water problems. Though efflorescence isn’t mold, the presence of the white powder is a sign of moisture in your basement.  Seeing white powdery patches on your wall can be an early sign that your foundation has water problems. The earlier you catch foundation or waterproofing issues, the better.

My basement walls are cracking or bowing; What should I do?

As time passes, frost and hydrostatic pressure cause the soil around your foundation to constantly move and apply tremendous force against your basement walls. This may cause them to crack, bow, and bulge. Eco-Seal Home Solutions can often bring the integrity of your foundation back, providing peace of mind and saving the expense of replacing the foundation.

My yard is always soggy, wet, and impossible to mow.

French Drains are a great option for managing water in low-lying or trapped areas of your yard.  Manage the water by providing a drainage system that removes standing water and transforms your yard into a usable area.

Rainwater from my downspouts is pooling in my beds and yard.

A lot of foundation problems are caused by the lack of downspout drainage. You may have gutters, you may have a downspout, but unless you have an underground downspout drainage system, water is just pooling in the soils around your house and will find its way into the basement, or create hydrostatic pressure that can lead to bowed or cracked walls.

Would it be safer to have an exit from my basement?

According to the U.S. Fire Administration, “4,000 Americans die each year in fires, and over 20,000 are injured,” many of which could be avoided with proper escape plans and routes. An egress window in each bedroom, as well as in other “habituated” areas (basements included), drastically increases your chances of safe escape in the event of a major house fire, and provides entry points into your home for emergency personnel.

What are the benefits of adding an Egress Window?

Adding an Egress window has several benefits:

  • Safe exit from your basement
  • Provides natural light
  • Meets building codes for adding a bedroom in basement area
  • Your home is more marketable with an exit from your basement
  • Low profile, low cost, great return
